Body Shield from Otto’s Sword Shop

You have visited Otto’s Sword Shop in the heart of Scurvytown. Otto has a number of magical weapons available at any point in time, and sometimes a few other interesting items that pass through his hands.

The style, which he is calling a body shield, seeks to improve the defensive value of traditional heavy shields. In the hands of the non-proficient this is just a larger Heavy Steel Shield. In the hands of someone who has training in and proficiency with tower shields then its full defensive value may be realized.

Base Item: Body Shield. +3 AC (+2 if non-proficient), -4 check penalty, and 25% Spell failure. Wt: 20 lbs. Due to the size and bulk of this shield, non-proficient users suffer a -1 to hit when attacking. Cost 40 gp.

You have purchased a GMW version of an experimental heavy armor forged by Sir Karwick val’Holryn in Tralia. The style seeks to improve the defense of traditional heavy armors without the exorbitant cost of the exotic Andrean Full Plate. Currently the end result is not fully satisfactory to Sir Panzer as significant flexibility has been sacrificed while weight has grown.

Base Item: Experimental Armor. +9 AC, +0 Max. Dex Bonus, -8 check penalty, and 55% Spell failure. Wt: 60 lbs. Cost 1700 gp. For the purposes of feats this is a standard heavy armor.

(Value: Value: 2,000 gp; Weight: 60 lbs; Use Restriction: Uncommon)

A Valossan Rod from Otto’s Sword Shop

You have visited Otto’s Sword Shop in the heart of Scurvytown. Otto has a number of magical weapons available at any point in time, and sometimes a few other magic items that pass through his hands.

You have purchased an Ancient Valossan Rod of Fire Extinguishing. Created centuries ago during the height of the Valossan Empire of serpent-men its magic is now failing.

This rod functions as a Rod of Fire Extinguishing (see Core Rulebook II) and can be used in melee as a Master Work Club. The rod now has 10 charges left that do not renew themselves. When the last charge is gone this rod crumbles to dust. Uses of the rod that do not require expending charges do not significantly drain the magic of this item, and can still be used without expending charges.
