The more you make of me the more you leave me behind.
What am I?

It's true I bring serenity, And hang around the stars,
But yet I live in misery, You'll find me behind bars.
With thieves and villains I consort, In prison I'll be found,
But I would never go to court, Unless there's more than one.

I'm a moment most solemn or a thought that you hold in
Though treasure I'm not, some do say that I'm golden.

Decapitate me and I become equal. Cut two from front and back and I only become two less than I started—though I speak a different language. What am I?

We are four brothers in this world.
The first one runs and never wearies.
The second eats himself to death.
The third drinks and is ever thirsty.
The fourth sings as soft as breath.
Who are we?

In your future and in your past
I come and go so senseless and fast
My purpose is unknown to all
Remembrance seems to drift then fall
I travel by night and fade by day
Because that is my common way
