The time that we feared has finally arrived. Noen will not take any further steps to counter Calsestus, and we have no more time for debate. You must stop Katar from attending the Investiture Ceremony, and we must send a message to Calsestus in the strongest terms possible that his treason and blasphemy will not be tolerated in Solanos Mor.
Attached is a complete description of Katar’s plan to sneak away to the Ceremony, as well as the details on the mercenaries that the Emperor is sending to escort him to Grand Coryan. The only way to prevent this travesty from occurring is to take Katar into protective custody for a week or so, until the ceremony is over. Make absolutely certain that neither Katar nor Nalia are harmed; they are much loved by the people, and will be needed in the dark times ahead.
My friend, I know that you are uncomfortable about what I must now say. Without a leader like Noen, Elabac or Katar coming forward, the only way the people of Solanos Mor will understand that we can resist the Emperor and redeem humanity is for us to show them. And the best way to show them is by example. We must strike a blow that will cause the Emperor to cower in fear and our people to realize that Calsestus is mortal, and can be overthrown. That is why we must kill the Coryani Ambassador right inside the Coryani Embassy.
I have discovered that there is a shop storeroom accessible from the Trabek cavern that extends almost to the Vault and lies directly underneath the Coryani Ambassador’s home. Take the blast powder, put it in some grain bags to conceal it from casual observation, and follow the usual route until you reach the tunnel to Trabek. If you leave exactly at six, your path to the store will be free from militia patrols. Place the powder, along with the Altherian timer, around the primary vertical support beam in the storage room according to the enclosed diagram. When you start the timer, you will have exactly one minute before it explodes, igniting the blastpowder and causing an explosion so large that there will be no bodies left to restore or resurrect. I would recommend that you withdraw up the corridor 30 feet or so, to be safe from the explosion.
It is absolutely critical that you start the timer as the great clock strikes the last bell for eight o’clock. King Noen will be at the reception, and I must see that he is safely out of the building before the explosion. I cannot keep him occupied for long, so the timing must be exact!
I know that you have reservations about this step; we have talked much about it of late. But when the people of Coryan see that the Dwarves of Solanos Mor remember their ancient duty to Mankind, and that we will not accept this heretic of an Emperor – when they see that we can and will fight him – then they will rise up themselves in revolt against this monster. And we will be there to help them, to guide them, to protect them. We will not fail a second time to be faithful to Illiir’s commandment.
It would be best to avoid the spies sent by Calsestus, if possible; they are not our concern today. But, if they should seek to interfere with your operation, do not hesitate to kill them. They are treacherous mercenaries that have been seen meddling in the internal affairs of many countries, from Milandir, to Canceri, and even Ymandragore. It is rumored that they are agents of Queen Alezha, that wretched whore of Calsestus' sick fantasies. If you do kill them, make sure to search their bodies; they may have evidence of Calsestus’ other plans and schemes, which we can use to prove our case even more strongly.
You are a man of vision and great courage. One day, all the people of Solanos Mor will praise your name and acknowledge your faithfulness to Illiir. Do this, my friend, and perhaps Illiir himself may one day welcome you into Paradise – the first of our people in thousands of years.
