An investigation into the incident at the 1893 World’s Fair:
It seems that the trouble was caused by special embroidery in the bedroom of Marie Antoinette. The embroidery was woven with occasional strands of a special silver thread, hardly noticeable unless one pays attention to such. They were sewn in a crisscross fashion.
Viewing the fine needlework resulted in one of two effects. It produced a desire for either suicide or homicide. There is no clear indication as to which effect would be chosen. However, regardless of the method chosen, it was important that the act itself involve beheading in a spectacular fashion. Unfortunately several innocents lost their lives and it is also believed to be the cause of the explosion that destroyed the Liberty Bell.
It is difficult to understand the meaning behind this effect. Perhaps it was simply the work of a talented madman. Perhaps it was part of some elaborate ritual. Perhaps it was the corruption of a pure work that went wrong.
In any case, the silvery threads seem to radiate some level of enchantment. Also there was some type of magical protection upon the threads themselves that caused the person attempting to cut them to suddenly become blind.
