Grand Duke Nimgroth was not at all pleased
with the responsibility. As such, he remains inactive, unwilling to expend
any Altarran resources. Due to this inactivity, the citizens of the Rimward
Barrens – displaced and not – joined together to create an active
paramilitary defense of their homeworlds.
With the help of some of the notables of the region, the Rimward Barrens
Legionary was formed. Many people – outworlders, imperialists, loyalists,
mercenaries, refugees, anarchists, et. al. – all volunteered for service
if for no other reason than a desire to safely go home. Others simply happened
to be in the right place at the right time, and their abilities caused
the Legionary to take notice of them.
The Rimward Barrens Legionary (or RBL for
short) has been nicknamed the "Rebels" by some. The hardcore members of
the RBL seem to enjoy the play on words and so the name has cemented itself
throughout the region.
